Halifax police investigating after RCMP officer’s pistol stolen from personal vehicle

Halifax Regional Police are investigating after an RCMP officer’s pistol was stolen from the officer’s personal vehicle in downtown Halifax on Saturday.

Police say that between 7:40 p.m and 9:30 p.m., an off-duty RCMP officer’s firearm was taken from the vehicle in the 1700-block of Granville Street.

Three magazines and assorted ammunition were also stolen.

The pistol is described as a silver 9mm Smith & Wesson model 5946 with an RCMP logo, a silhouette of a horse and rider and “GRC” inscribed on the right side of the slide.

Police say the magazines are also silver.
