After five months of repairs, Western’s University Drive Bridge is open to motorists.
The university made the decision to close the 95-year-old span to vehicular traffic in October following a routine inspection.
The bridge reopens Friday, just in time for Western’s open house events on the weekend.
“The road system that we deal with in the north end of London — our property is a pretty crucial part of that,” said Keith Marnoch, spokesperson for Western University.

Marnoch said they’re aware of the impact the closure has had on motorists and appreciate their patience
Cars, trucks, ambulances and transit and shuttle buses will be able to resume using the bridge, but a 12-tonne load limit will remain in place that prohibits concrete trucks and fire trucks from crossing.
