Pedestrian struck and killed in Aylmer

Police say charges are pending after a pedestrian was struck and killed south of London over the weekend.

According to police in Aylmer, the 81-year-old man was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the road late Saturday morning.

He was transported to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Talbot Street West was closed for about four hours Saturday while police investigated, but has since reopened.

The driver remained at the scene and charges are pending, officers said.
