Snow began to fall in some parts of Metro Vancouver Wednesday evening, with more possible across the region and the Fraser Valley.
Residents of Surrey, Coquitlam and Port Moody all reported flakes hitting the ground before 10 p.m.
Global News meteorologist Kristi Gordon says the bulk of the snowfall is expected overnight, and could include a mixture of rain and snow.
“Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley could see anywhere from zero to five centimetres by Thursday morning. The hardest areas will be along the mountains and in the East Fraser Valley,” Gordon said.
Gordon said the possibility of snow will persist into the morning, but will likely be confined to the mountains and the eastern Fraser Valley.
However, she added that Thursday’s commute looks like it shouldn’t be too much of a mess for most drivers, with much of the region likely only seeing about two centimetres.
Areas close to the mountains, from West Vancouver east through Maple Ridge and Coquitlam could see up to five centimetres, she said.
