Peterborough impaired driver strikes vehicle, house: Police

A Peterborough man is accused of driving with twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system following two collisions in the city’s west end on Sunday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., police were responded to a collision on Applewood Crescent for reports of a vehicle striking a parked vehicle. The vehicle also backed into a porch at another home, police said.

Police say a breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Jeremy Thomas O’Donoghue, 42, of Applewood Crescent, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle blood-alcohol concentration over 80 mg.

His driver’s licence was suspended 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He was released from custody and will appear in court on Feb. 27.
