Kingston school put under hold and secure due to phoned-in bomb threat: police

A school in Kingston was briefly put under hold and secure Monday morning due to a threat made to the school.

Communications officer with Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board Jessica Salmon said St. Paul Catholic School was put under a hold and secure due a to a threat made over the phone.

Kingston police say a bomb threat was called into the school, but after responding to the school, they found the threat to be unsubstantiated and all students and faculty are safe.

Salmon said the hold and secure was lifted at 11:45 a.m. Police are still on scene as part of the investigation.

A neighbouring school, Lord Strathcona Public School, was put under hold and secure as a precaution but was lifted around noon.

Kingston police could not say if this alleged bomb threat had any relation to the string of bomb threats made to Kingston schools in early December, 2018.
