Norfolk County firefighters had to battle the bitter cold to take down a fire in Waterford.
It broke out on the third floor of the multi-unit residence on Main Street around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Fire prevention officer Michael Atkins says the freezing temperatures caused issues for firefighting operations as the caps on two of the nearby fire hydrants were frozen in place and had to be forced open.
The fire was quickly brought under control and officials say no occupants of the building were home at the time.
Damage is estimated at $250,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but is not believed to be suspicious.
