Police in Brandon were greeted by an uncommon sight on Thursday.
Brandon police posted on social media a picture of a three-foot snake they found in a vacant residence.
Const. Myran Hamm said the snake was found in a heated terrarium, along with a guinea pig on Thursday.
Hamm said the tenants claim the landlord allowed them to leave the animals in the suite until the end of the month.
But according to Hamm, the landlord was not in favor of the decision, when they went to move in a new tenant.
The guinea pig was taken to the city pound by police. However the Brandon pound isn’t able house a snake, and instead had a sleepover at police headquarters.
The owner of the animals saw police’s social media post, and contacted officials to explain the situation.
Hamm said the animals are expected to be returned to their owner on Friday.
