Dangerous driving charge approved against Vancouver police officer

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved a charge of dangerous driving causing bodily harm against a Vancouver police officer.

The charge is in relation to a collision involving a pedestrian from Jan. 6, 2018.

Const. Andrew Peters was driving an unmarked police cruiser when he allegedly hit a pedestrian near Knight and East 20th.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) took over looking into the crash.

An appearance in court is scheduled for Feb. 7.
