History

Edmonton-Whitemud has traditionally been a right-leaning riding, electing mainly Progressive Conservative candidates since its creation in 1971.

It was held by Liberals for eight years in the 1990s. The riding was part of the 2015 orange crush, which saw the Alberta NDP stomp out a 44-year PC dynasty in the province.
