History

The Edmonton-Ellerslie riding was created in 1993 from Edmonton-Mill Woods. The Progressive Conservatives won the riding in 2008 with candidate Naresh Bhardwaj.

Bhardwaj stepped away from his cabinet position in 2015 and withdrew his candidacy prior to the 2015 provincial election after allegations arose of bribery during the nomination process in his riding.
