Calgary police investigate downtown shooting Sunday

Calgary police said they were called to the area of 12 Avenue and 11 Street S.W. at around 11 p.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots – Jan 7, 2019

Calgary police are investigating a report of gunshots near a downtown highrise.

Police said they found several bullet casings at the intersection of 12 Avenue and 11 Street S.W. at around 11 p.m. Sunday.

A week later, Calgary police said investigators had spoken to several witnesses and reviewed security footage. They’re now trying to identify the occupants of a red or orange Dodge Caravan or similar body-type SUV that was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shots were heard.

“At this time, it is unknown whether anyone was injured during the shooting, but evidence gathered at the scene suggests that at least four shots were fired,” police said.

Police said they are looking for the source of bullet casings.
