3 teens suffer near fatal overdoses from counterfeit Xanax in Cambridge

Police are warning the public not to take pills that look like these as they may be counterfeit. Waterloo Regional Police

Waterloo Regional Police issued a warning for residents to avoid taking counterfeit Xanax which appears to available in Cambridge.

Police say there have been three reports of suspected overdoses in Hespeler.

Officers say three male teens were taken to hospital over the past week with suspected near fatal overdoses involving the counterfeit pills.

Police believe the counterfeit Xanax is still being sold in Cambridge and are warning it may be available throughout the Waterloo Region.

It is believed these pills are continuing to be sold in Hespeler and possibly throughout the Waterloo Region.

Waterloo Region integrated drugs strategy also issued an alert on Twitter Thursday saying, “Substances that look like a real prescription can be counterfeit.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
