TORONTO – Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a 28-year-old woman fell to her death from a 19th-floor balcony in downtown Toronto on Saturday.
It happened at the corner of Dalhousie and Shuter streets at around 6 p.m., when officers responded to a call about a woman in distress.
When they entered the apartment, they discovered the woman was on the balcony.
She fell from the balcony soon after and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Special Investigations Unit has assigned a team of four investigators to the case.
The SIU investigates incidents involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
