Toronto police said they responded to a call around 4:50 a.m. Friday to an area on Warden Avenue and Burnhill Road just north of Danforth Avenue in Scarborough.

Toronto Paramedics arrived on scene and located a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a trauma centre where he later died.

Police said the suspect fled in a vehicle that headed southbound on Warden towards Danforth.

“The victim was walking on the street and the suspect also was on foot,” Det. Andy Singh said. “But I believe the suspect arrived in the area with the help of a vehicle. That vehicle had a driver in it.”

Investigators believe the victim was targeted but are unclear about the motive.

“It does appear it was specifically aimed at the individual who was shot and we don’t believe there is any immediate threat to the community in the area,” Singh said.

Police said the suspect is described as a male wearing a light-coloured hoodie. The vehicle is believed to be a silver four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima.

Singh said they are looking to speak with people nearby who were boarding a transit bus at the time of the shooting.

Authorities are also seeking additional surveillance footage from homes or vehicle dashcam video.
