A woman found dead on Paul First Nation west of Edmonton this week was shot to death, an autopsy revealed.
On Wednesday, the RCMP said an autopsy conducted in Edmonton earlier in the day determined the 31-year-old woman was the victim of a homicide “as a result of a gunshot wound.”
“The RCMP have determined that this was an isolated and purposeful incident,” police said in a news release. “There is no indication that the general public is at risk.”
Stony Plain RCMP officers responded to a call for assistance on the First Nation, located near Wabamun Lake, at 7:38 a.m. on Tuesday.

Mounties arrived to find a woman’s body. The major crimes unit was then sent out to take over the investigation.
On Wednesday, police said they are looking for a suspect vehicle which they described as a black Ford pickup truck. It is believed to be a four-door cab with black, five-spoke split rims. It has a black grill and black tint on all windows.
According to the RCMP, the suspects in the homicide were seen fleeing in the vehicle and are now believed to be in Edmonton.
