A man from Kelowna is in custody, with police saying he will be facing several criminal charges after allegedly committing back-to-back robberies in Vernon on Tuesday afternoon.
According to North Okanagan RCMP, the two robberies took place within a two-hour span. The first took place in the 3100 block of Highway 6 at approximately 1:45 p.m., with the second taking place at 3:45 p.m. in the 4800 block of 27th Street.
In the first robbery, police allege the male suspect first threatened staff, then fled in a black Dodge truck with a stolen licence plate. No mention was made if the suspect got away with stolen goods.

In the second robbery, police say the suspect allegedly fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets in a similar truck with the same stolen Alberta licence plate.
Police say despite numerous patrols, the suspect and the truck were not located. However, approximately 45 minutes later, a police officer in nearby Lake Country spotted a black Dodge truck with the same stolen Alberta licence plate. When the officer tried a traffic stop, the suspect allegedly fled at a high rate of speed towards Kelowna.
Police say they found the truck abandoned in downtown Kelowna, but the suspect was tracked down with the assistance of K9 services.
A 28-year-old man from Kelowna will appear in Vernon court on numerous criminal charges.
