It was a record breaking weekend in southern Manitoba as temperatures soared. Records were smashed on Saturday and Sunday as southern parts of the province saw temperatures in the high 30s.
The average temperature for this time of year is 25° C.

The hottest record temperature on Saturday was 38.5° Celsius in Melita. It was 39.1° C in Morden on Sunday.
Winnipeg broke records on both Saturday and Sunday reaching 37.1° C and 37.5° C respectively.
Heat like this is quite uncommon. Looking back at weather records, Winnipeg hasn’t had a hotter day since June 17, 1995 when the mercury climbed to 37.8° C.
The hottest day on record in Winnipeg was July 11, 1936 when it reached 42.2° C.

Winnipeg has seen plenty of hot weather this summer.
Typically from May through August the city will see temperatures over 30° C around 13 times. So far, since May of 2018, this has happened 21 times already.
