A section of St. Mary’s Road in front of the St. Vital Fire Hall has been given the honorary name of Paramedic Way.
“Paramedics have been vital in saving lives in Winnipeg and I am proud to champion the honorary naming of Paramedic Way to ensure their important contributions are highlighted,” said St. Vital Coun. Brian Mayes.

There are currently 724 licensed paramedics on staff with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. Their chief, John Lane, said the honorary naming will “ensure Winnipeg’s paramedics are remembered for their current and past contributions to public safety.”
The designated stretch runs along St. Mary’s Road from St. Anne’s Road to Mager Drive.
Honorary namings do not change the actual street name and typically last for a few years time. This honorary street naming will be in effect for the next five years, said the city.
