Stretch of Winnipeg street to be named ‘Slurpee Way’

Manitobans love their Slurpees so much that part of the city is receiving a unique honour.

A stretch of Rouge Road from Portage Avenue to Byrd Avenue will be graced with the name “Slurpee Way”.

This will highlight the 19 straight years Manitoba has held the title Slurpee Capital of the World.

The honourary name will be in place for two years.

The City of Winnipeg said new street signage will be in place July 11, which marks the 91st birthday of 7-Eleven Corporation. That same day, the company is giving away 1,500 free, small birthday Slurpees across Canada.
