Calgary police have charged a man in connection to a random stabbing attack earlier this week in the city’s northeast.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Falconridge Drive N.E. after a woman reported a man was trying to break into her home at around 5:15 a.m. Monday.

The man reportedly forced his way through the front door and the woman and her mother fled the residence.

“The suspect entered the house and located a 63-year-old man who had been sleeping and began assaulting him,” police said.

The suspect was arrested when police arrived.
