Northwestern N.B. woman handed four-year sentence for drug trafficking

A 43-year-old woman from northwestern New Brunswick will serve four years behind bars for trafficking drugs.

Chantal Coté pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

The Saint-Léonard, N.B., resident entered her plea in Edmundston’s Court of Queen’s Bench on Tuesday.

Coté was arrested two different times in March following a pair of search warrants being executed in her home.

During the two searches, the Saint-Léonard RCMP Crime Reduction Unit seized a large quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana and a quantity of cash.

Coté is also prohibited from possessing a firearm for life and must submit a DNA sample to court.
