The Chatham-Kent Police Service is reporting a Ridgetown man was arrested for breach of recognizance and resisting arrest in connection with a violent altercation on Tuesday.
According to police, officers were called to a home in Ridgetown and located the man, who was under conditions to stay away from that address.

During the arrest, the man allegedly grabbed a woman by the hair and wouldn’t let go until he was pepper sprayed. Police say the man then bit the officer, breaking the skin.
The officer was taken to hospital for treatment and was released.
The man was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.
