Inmate apprehended after escaping Edmonton healing centre Saturday

RCMP said a 28-year-old man who disappeared from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre on Saturday was arrested Monday in St. Albert.

Jimmy Kyle Saskatchewan was serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence for using a firearm while committing an offence and flight and operation of a motor vehicle while disqualified.

According to a news release issued by Correctional Service Canada (CSC), staff at the healing centre discovered he was not accounted for on Saturday and the Edmonton Police Service was contacted.

Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, a citizen called St. Albert RCMP and said they thought they saw the man who escaped the Stan Daniels Healing Centre walking near the London Drugs and Safeway parking lot.

The caller described the man and RCMP members responded to the location.

RCMP said Saskatchewan “attempted to flee from police when he exited Safeway” but officers were able to catch him.

The Stan Daniels Healing Centre is managed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta.
