Riverside Park is once again the go-to destination in Guelph to celebrate Canada Day.
For Canada’s 151st anniversary on Sunday, the Rotary Club of Guelph is hosting its annual bash with full day of activities scheduled in the park, starting at 10 a.m.
There will be performances from the Coro Cantitalia Choir, The Wanted, the Guelph Celtic Orchestra, The Overtones, John Licari and No Fixed Address, and the Royal City Big Band.
A citizenship ceremony will get underway at 5 p.m. on the main stage.
The Rotary Club of Guelph Wellington will once again host its always-popular rubber duck race in the Speed River at 4:15 p.m. It’s an event that draws in thousands and raises money for local charities.
Last year the race raised $35,000.
There will also be a zumba class, bingo, Canadian trivia and a food court with over a dozen vendors.
The day will be capped off with a musical fireworks show at about 10 p.m.
While the festivities are free, donations of $5 per person or a $20 family pass will go toward helping support local charities and events.
Guelph Transit is offering a free fireworks shuttle from Guelph Central Station at 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. to Riverside Park.
After the fireworks, shuttle buses will be stationed at the Woodlawn Road entrance to Riverside Park and will depart between 10 and 11 p.m. Additional buses will be parked on Woolwich Street at Speedvale Avenue.
