Authorities say a man from Lindsay faces charges after fleeing from a police pursuit earlier this month.
City of Kawartha Lakes police say on June 2, a vehicle was stolen from a residence on Sussex Street South. A constable noticed the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it.
“However, the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the area and officers located the vehicle a short time later, unoccupied on Highway 35 south,” stated Sgt. Dave Murtha on Thursday.
Police were eventually able to identify a suspect and issued a warrant for the individual’s arrest.
On Wednesday, police located the man and arrested him.
Michael James Martin, 35, of Lindsay is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, flight while pursued by a peace officer, taking a motor vehicle without consent, breach of probation and being unlawfully at large.
He was held in custody to attend a bail hearing in court in Lindsay on Thursday.
