Man charged with impaired driving following crash in Lawrencetown

A 28-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash in Lawrencetown, N.S., Thursday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say the crash happened in the 2400 block of Lawrencetown Road around 5 a.m.

Police believe the man failed to negotiate a turn, left the road, rolled several times across the front lawn of two homes, and severed a utility pole.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and caused significant damage to the utility lines in the area.

The man was sent to hospital with minor injuries.

The section of road was closed as a result.

Nova Scotia RCMP later said that they believe the driver from Westphal was impaired. He was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating over the legal limit.

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on July 25.
