Toronto police said they were called to the Yonge Street and Wellington Street West area at around 9 p.m. with reports from people who heard gunshots being fired.

Investigators said the victim left the Pick 6ix restaurant near the intersection with an unidentified woman. As they walked westbound on the north side of Wellington Street West, police said a black, four-door Honda Civic with a sunroof drove south on Jordan Street and went eastbound on Wellington Street West in the wrong direction.

Officers said the car quickly made a U-turn and drove toward the man and the woman. Police said two suspects got out of the car and shot at the victim, who then ran down a parking ramp below 18 Wellington St. W.
