A 20-year-old woman was arrested by RCMP in New Brunswick after a car crashed into a river.

RCMP say they responded on April 13 at around 4:30 a.m. to Bell Settlement Road in Red Bridge, N.B.

A vehicle had left the road and plunged into the Meduxnekeag River.

By the time police arrived, the car was completely submerged but two women in the vehicle had escaped and were uninjured.

RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

The woman, who is from Woodstock, N.B., was arrested at the scene and released pending a future court appearance.
