Police requesting help after taxi driver stabbed and robbed in Regina

UPDATE: Shots fired as RCMP recover stolen Regina taxi in rural Saskatchewan

The Regina Police Service (RPS) is requesting help in locating a vehicle that was involved in a morning robbery and weapon assault.

On Friday at 8:16 a.m., police were called to the 2900 block of Parliament Avenue for reports of a robbery and assault. Police found a man who appeared to have been stabbed. An ambulance was called to take the man to the hospital.

RPS remained on Parliament Avenue between Retallack and Robinson Streets for an investigation into this incident, blocking east and westbound traffic.

It is believed that the victim, a 34-year-old man, was operating a taxi and his vehicle was stolen by the assailant.

Police confirmed they do not have anybody in custody related to this incident and are asking for assistance in locating a 2012 black Dodge Caravan taxi-cab, #29 with Regina Cabs, license plate number 979 KNW.

Regina police say anyone who sees the vehicle should call police immediately and should not approach the driver or the vehicle.

The scene has been cleared and traffic flow is returned to normal.
