A 25-year-old man arrested on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with a violent attack on an autistic man at a bus terminal in Mississauga, Ont., made a brief court appearance on Thursday and had his case put over until April 25.
Ronjot Singh Dhami, whose last known address was in Surrey, B.C., is the second of three suspects arrested by police in the attack that was caught on video in March. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
The accused, who wore a grey sweater and track pants in court, was remanded into custody and retained a new lawyer.
Toronto police said Dhami is also facing assault charges in connection with an altercation at the Rebel Nightclub located in the city’s Port Lands.
Authorities said the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, just days before the attack at a bus terminal near Square One.
If he is released on bail, police said he will be arrested again, this time by Toronto police.
Parmvir Singh Chahil, the other suspect arrested in connection with the bus terminal assault, was released on bail last month.
Chahil’s 44-year-old mother, Hardip Padda, and 18-year-old brother, Harmanvir Chahil, both of Windsor, were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.
Authorities said the bus terminal attack happened at around 10:45 p.m. on March 13. A 29-year-old man with autism was putting on inline skates when police said three men came and began to attack him.

The trio can be seen in surveillance video kicking and punching the victim before walking away.

Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Chahil and Dhami following the assault.
The third suspect has not yet been positively identified, but police say he might go by the first name of Jason.
