A 53-year-old London man has been charged with impaired driving in Kingston after police caught him driving on the wrong side of the road.
According to Kingston Police, the man had over two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, after disturbing guests in a hotel bar, yelling in the hallways, and eventually kicked out of his room, police say the London man left the hotel in a cab. A half-hour later, the man returned to the hotel parking lot, and allegedly drove away in his vehicle.
Hotel staff contacted police and the accused was stopped after an officer caught him driving on the wrong side of the concrete barrier on Centennial Drive.
The man was then charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.
His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and he will face a one-year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, and the man will be responsible for all fees and fines.
