Nova Scotia RCMP have arrested a teen in connection to racist graffiti painted on and near the East Antigonish Education Centre in Monastery, N.S.
RCMP say the the 17-year-old, whose name cannot be released because he is a minor, has been charged with public incitement of hatred and four counts of mischief.

Police say they were able to identify the teenager through an investigation into this incident and other graffiti found in the area.
The teen has since been released on conditions and is set to appear in Antigonish Youth Court at a later date.
The Mounties say they were notified about the incident on March 5 at around 9 p.m.
Investigators have determined that the suspects painted the graffiti between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. that night.

Photos of the graffiti show it is both racially and culturally insensitive, and included the “N” word and a phrase that is derogatory against Indigenous people.
RCMP continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact Antigonish RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
