The BC SPCA’s hearts, fridge and cabinets are overflowing with the donations of clean linens, chicken and treats for the new four-legged residents, according to a Facebook post.
After receiving an overwhelming amount of donations from the Penticton community at the SPCA, the 46 dogs and puppies seized from a rural property in Williams Lake will begin the long rehabilitation process ahead.
The dogs were seized because of a lack of shelter, poor sanitation, and inadequate veterinary care.
Most of the dogs are traumatized from their time on the half-acre property. The dogs are still terrified of human contact.

At the Kelowna SPCA, the garage is filled from bottom to top with donations of blankets, towels and dog kennels.
The shelter also had to acquire a third freezer to store all of the meat donations being dropped off.
It’s a community response not seen in a very long time, if ever.
“I haven’t seen it that way ever,” Kelowna branch manager Sean Hogan said. “We have to trim down and find other storage because of the fire hazard that it poses.”
With SPCA facilities filled with donations, those wishing to still lend their support can do so in the form of a grocery gift cards. That allows the shelters to purchase items as it’s needed.
