OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the transport truck remained at the scene.

Police said they have spoken to witnesses and the pedestrian was seen walking in the area prior to the collision. Schmidt said foul play is not suspected.

The westbound express lanes of Highway 401 between Brimley Road and Warden Avenue were closed for the investigation but reopened just before 8:30 a.m.

The closure caused major traffic issues as Toronto-bound commuters squeezed into the collector lanes through much of the morning rush hour.
