Winnipegger Brendan Leipsic traded to Vancouver Canucks

The Vegas Golden Knights have sent Winnipegger Brendan Leipsic to the Vancouver Canucks in a trade for defensive prospect Philip Holm.

Leipsic has two goals and 11 assists in 44 games in his first full NHL season. He has a total of 16 points in 50 career games split between the Golden Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs. Leipsic was acquired by Vegas in last summer’s expansion draft.

The 23-year-old posted 120 points in 68 games with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks in 2012-13 to finish as the CHL’s top scorer.

Leipsic has one season remaining of a two-year, $1.3-million contract.
