A woman was killed after the vehicle she was in collided with a semi truck near Lethbridge on Friday afternoon.

Coaldale RCMP said a Volkswagen Jetta was approaching the Broxburn intersection on Highway 3 at about 4 p.m. Friday when it couldn’t stop on the icy road conditions and slammed into a semi truck hauling a flatbed trailer stopped at the intersection.

Two women were in the Jetta at the time of the collision. The 43-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she passed away a few hours later.

The driver of the Jetta and the only person in the semi truck weren’t injured.
