A passenger in a car has been killed in a crash on Highway 16 east of Lloydminster, Sask.

Maidstone RCMP said it happened Wednesday at around 3:30 p.m. CT when a southbound car on Range Road 3280 and a half-ton truck heading east on the highway collided.

The passenger in the car was declared dead at the scene. Police have not released the person’s name or age.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was also injured.

Eastbound traffic in the area was restricted for eight hours while a RCMP collision analyst carried out their investigation. Those restrictions have since been lifted.
