Police looking for man who threatened to kill dog on Halifax walking trail

Halifax Regional Police are asking for a man who was involved in an altercation along a walking trail in Herring Cove to contact them.

Around 11 a.m. on Feb. 7, police say a group of people were walking with their dogs on the McIntosh Run Trail system near Norawarren Drive when they encountered a man walking with two dogs.

The man’s dogs got into an altercation with one of the dogs that was with the larger group of people. After the dogs were separated, police say the man threatened to kill the dog.

He also threatened and swore at people in the group, which included several young children.

None of the people or dogs were injured.

The man is described as a white, average height, average build, and approximately 23-years-old. He was wearing a hooded sweater at the time of the incident. One of the dogs is described as a large brown lab/shepherd mix and the other dog is described as a white and gray pit-bull.

Police are looking to speak to the man about the incident. Anyone who has information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
