The Canadian Red Cross is assisting a family of four following a fire Monday evening in Nova Scotia.
The blaze broke out at around 6 p.m. on Highway 357 in Elderbank, about halfway between Dartmouth and Truro.

Officials say the family escaped the fire unharmed.
The Red Cross has arranged emergency lodging for a couple and their two teenage sons and will help the family with the purchase of food, clothing and other basic needs.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
