Police seek suspect in Port Hope bank robbery

Police seek a suspect following a bank robbery in Port Hope on Wednesday afternoon – Jan 31, 2018

Police are searching for a suspect after a bank was robbed in downtown Port Hope on Wednesday.

Port Hope police say around noon, a man entered the Scotiabank at 69 Walton Street.  The suspect entered the bank demanding money from the teller.

The suspect left with an unknown amount of cash and fled on foot.

The suspect was described as a thin male with tan skin and brown eyes approximately, 5’9″ to 5’10” was wearing a balaclava and dressed in a green parka with fur trim on the hood, grey pants,  and black running shoes.

A sign posted on the door said the branch was involved in an “robbery/emergency” situation and that customers were advised to visit the nearest branch in Cobourg.

The suspect has yet to be identified.

Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact Port Hope Police Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-885-8123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
