Red Deer RCMP said that a heavy police presence in the central Alberta city on Sunday morning was the result of police executing a search warrant.

A release from RCMP said the search warrant was in relation to a “shooting event” in the city on Jan. 18.

At around 10:30 that evening, police were called to the north-central Riverside Meadows neighbourhood. Several units, residences and vehicles were damaged by bullets in the shooting, but no bystanders were hurt.

On Sunday morning, a tweet from Alberta RCMP alerted the public to avoid the neighbourhood while a “situation” unfolded.

Police said four adults were “detained,” questioned and released without charges.
