Sask. Party committee rules Alanna Koch did not receive questions before debate

The Saskatchewan Party Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) has concluded its investigation into the complaint that Alanna Koch received questions before the Weyburn debate and found there is no evidence she received the questions.

After the Weyburn debate, Sask. Party candidates Tina Beaudy-Mellor, Gord Wyant
and Scott Moe signed a letter alleging debate questions were leaked to Koch before the event.

The LEOC officially ruled that:

“The LEOC (also referenced as “We”) finds no direct evidence or proof of Ms. Kathy Young, or anyone else, having supplied the Weyburn Debate questions to anyone, including Ms. Alanna Koch or her campaign manager, Mr. Kelly Gallagher, prior to the Weyburn Debate.

All of the evidence supplied to us by those in support of the Complaint was circumstantial.

There were however specific inquiries by Ms. Young of the various Ministerial office staff on topics which were the subject of the Weyburn Debate. We can certainly see this as being a point of concern for many of the leadership candidates.

The ruling goes on to say that the complaint from the members is justified in being concerned with the circumstances surrounding the Weyburn debate. The LEOC found the complaint bona fide and raised without any malice or ill-will.

The LEOC now considers the matter closed and will not be commenting further.
