Mounties said the nearby Royal Heights Elementary school was briefly locked down as a precaution, while officers scoured the area.

Officers with Surrey’s Serious Crimes Unit are now working with Delta police to canvass the area for witnesses.

Police said they believe the attack was targeted, and that there is no danger to the general public, including students at Royal Heights.

Investigators added that it is too early to say whether the shooting was connected with previous shootings or ongoing drug conflict in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.
