Hospital staff groped while on their way to work: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police are issuing a warning after three women walking to work at Health Sciences Centre were allegedly sexually assaulted.

All three incidents happened between 7:10 a.m. and 8:45 a.m on Monday around the hospital. In each case, police said the suspect ran up to the women, groped them, then ran off.

“They were very shaken up and traumatized by the incidents,” Const. Jay Murray, with the Winnipeg Police Service, said. “These are despicable acts.”

Police said the locations of the attacks were McGee Street and Notre Dame Avenue, Victor Street and Notre Dame Avenue and near the Tecumseh Street Parkade.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20’s with a thin build and wearing an “army green” hoodie with the hood over the head with khaki pants and dark gloves.

The Sex Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to call 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
