The U.S. Department of Defense “erroneously” shared a tweet on its official account that called for President Donald Trump to resign.
On Thursday afternoon, Twitter user @ProudResister addressed recent allegations of sexual misconduct against Senate candidate Roy Moore and Sen. Al Franken.
“The solution is simple…Roy Moore: Step down from the race. Al Franken: Resign from congress. Donald Trump: Resign from the presidency. GOP: Stop making sexual assault a partisan issue. It’s a crime as is your hypocrisy,” reads the tweet.
The Defense Department retweeted the post a short time later. The retweet has since been deleted.
Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said on Twitter that an “authorized operator” of the account had “erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense.”

“The operator caught this error and immediately deleted it,” the spokesperson tweeted.
Trump himself deleted a tweet earlier this week after he shared what appeared to be condolences to the victims of the wrong mass shooting.
A lone gunman opened fire in a series of shootings in rural California early Tuesday killing five people and injuring 10 others.

Instead of acknowledging the rampage in Tehama County, Trump mentioned Sutherland Springs, where a gunman slaughtered 26 people at a small Texas church earlier this month.

“May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.
On Nov. 5, Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire on the church before dying of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan,” Trump tweeted the same day of the church shooting.
The president deleted the second Sutherland Springs tweet Wednesday morning.
