Sylvie Parent has been confirmed as mayor of Longueuil after a judge ordered a judicial recount of the Nov. 5 election results.

Ten teams of election staff recounted 200 of the 495 ballot boxes after second-place candidate Josée Latendresse requested it.

The first time the ballots were counted, Parent beat Latendresse for the mayoralty by 118 votes.

Her victory has now been confirmed. The margin of victory now stands at 110 votes.

Lawyers for Latendresse say they will go back and ask the court to approve a recount of all 58,326 ballots.
