The death of a 26-year-old man whose body was found north of Edmonton has been ruled a homicide and police have revealed the victim’s identity.
An autopsy on Krishneel Kamal Kumar by the Chief Medical Examiner concluded his death was a homicide.
Kumar’s body was found by a farmer in a rural area in Sturgeon County on Monday night.
Residents who live nearby noticed police cordoned off an area and searched it using a strong spotlight.
“As I was coming back home from work at around 4, all I saw was that farmer came up to the road with his combine or something — there were at least four police trucks — and he was explaining to them,” a woman named Susan said. “Another truck blocked this road, another truck was up the road there.
“We kept watching from our window and we saw that up the hill there was a police car and a big projector light that stayed on all night, stayed on until yesterday in the afternoon.”
The discovery of a body has her on edge.
“Very scary actually,” Susan said. “I was worried about safety and everything. We’re still wondering what happened.”
