Halifax police search for suspect in grocery store arson case

Halifax Regional Police say they’re looking for a man who started a small fire in a grocery isle inside the Atlantic Superstore on Joe Howe Drive.

Police said the fire was discovered at around 6 p.m. by staff inside the store.

Fire crews quickly arrived and extinguished the fire while the store was being evacuated.

Fire officials were able to determine that the fire was set intentionally and has been ruled an arson.

The male suspect is described as being in his late 40s or early 50s with grey hair and a goatee. He was wearing eyeglasses with thick rims, a blue, puffy-style, waist-length coat, jeans and a blue ball cap at the time of the incident.
