The Calgary Flames announced Monday they’ve placed Jaromir Jagr on injured reserve after he left Saturday’s game against Minnesota Wild in the first period.
The 45-year-old right-winger broke his stick attempting a shot on the Wild net, skated to the bench and walked to the dressing room. He didn’t return to the game and the Flames lost 4-2.
The Flames said Jagr, who has two assists in five games this season, was being evaluated for a lower-body injury. A player placed on injured reserve is ineligible to play in NHL games for seven days.
On Monday, the Flames announced they had recalled forward Mark Jankowski from the Stockton Heat.
Jankowski, 23, has played six games with the Heat this season, recording a team-leading five goals and totalling eight points. He made his NHL debut last season with Calgary on Nov. 28 against the New York Islanders.
Calgary has back-to-back road games Tuesday in Nashville and Wednesday in St. Louis before heading back home to take on Dallas on Friday.
